SHARE is back!!

Saturday, February 25th – Virtual SHARE on Zoom (see calendar event)
Sunday, March 5th – in-person SHARE at Austin Creative Reuse  (see calendar event)

WSSA’s annual FREE members-helping-members workshop is back. We’ve held it in-person and virtually and now we’re going to do both. More details as we get closer to each event.

Virtual SHARE Workshop
Saturday February 25th
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Zoom

Please join us to ask or answer questions, pipe in with suggestions, see what others have been up to with their craft, or just lurk for the fun of it! Bring skills to share, your spinning questions, your warping questions (rigid heddle or shaft loom), questions on how to read a draft, about weave structures, yarns, fibers, your selvedges, mysterious equipment, or whatever you need.

This is an opportunity to connect with experienced guild members who can help you, or like-minded members who may be diving into the same kinds of projects. Don’t have something specific to ask? No problem! Just hang out and listen and learn from others. Zoom breakout rooms will be available for anyone needing more in-depth help.

No registration is required. Zoom link will be provided closer to February 25th.

In-person SHARE workshop
Sunday, March 5th
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Austin Creative Reuse

Virtual help just not cutting it? This in-person forum is for those kinds of questions and knotty problems that only seeing it and feeling it can help solve.

Registration is not required but will help our volunteers manage their time. Registration will open at the end of February.

So, What is SHARE?
SHARE is a Weavers & Spinners Society of Austin (WSSA) tradition, born from necessity when an ice storm forced the guild to cancel a guest-speaker-led workshop it already had reserved space for. Guild leaders quickly took matters into their own hands and turned lemons into lemonade (or would that be ice into ice cream?) with a last-minute round robin weaving event. It has since evolved into a free, members-teaching-members workshop – a way to share knowledge and help newcomers and beginners to get started.
