Program Night– Profiles and Blocks : Unlocking the weaving universe, Inga Marie Carmel
Thursday, November 10, 2022
7:00 to 9:00 pm CDT
See GoogleGroup or newsletter for Zoom link
Understanding how blocks work in weaving unlocks a whole universe of design possibilities, and allows you to develop your own patterns, or to adapt a weaving profile to your own project. We’ll take a look at a range of weaves including laces, twills and two shuttle weaves. We will also look at different ways a draft is written, how to read them, and how you get from a profile draft to a threading draft.
Before Marie was a weaving teacher, she was a Landscape Architect with a BA from UC Berkeley. She earned the Handweavers Guild of America’s Certificate of Excellence in Handweaving, Level 1 in 2016. Marie’s work has been published in Handwoven Magazine and she serves on the board of the Weavers and Spinners Society of Austin. She’s a self-proclaimed “loom geek”, fascinated with the looms themselves and the act of interacting with them.
