Program Night — Make Some Damn Clothes
March 8, 2018
6:30 pm to 9:00 pm
Northwest Recreation Center
2913 Northland Dr.
Austin, TX 78731
Have you ever wanted to make clothes but are afraid to try? If your closets are overflowing with scarves and your cabinets stuffed with handwoven towels, you’re ready to explore the next frontier: garments. Aimee Kandl will demystify the design and construction process, providing inspiration and resources to support your journey. After the presentation, members will get a chance to practice draping and improvisational designing. Join us as we gain the confidence to clothe our bodies, and *gasp* cut our precious handwoven fabric and make some damned clothes!
We open the doors at 6:30 pm for visiting and checking out what people have brought to share. Short business meeting and program start at 7:00 pm. Remember to bring your show and tell!
Hands-on Night
March 22, 2018
7 – 9 PM
Austin Recreation Center
1301 Shoal Creek Blvd
Austin, TX 78701-1790
The spinning circle will be active as usual and the library will be open for reading or checking out of materials. If you have any other projects you’d like to work on, feel free to bring them instead, the more the merrier.
Weaving 101 will have a lesson on direct warping a rigid heddle loom. Bring your loom if you like, but best to have a narrow warp on it so we can complete all the steps in 2 hours.
