June 2025 Meetings

June Potluck, Annual Business Meeting and Election
Thursday, June 12, 2024
7:00 to 9:00 pm CDT

Meg Wilson will once again host us at her house. Bring something delicious and don’t forget your handwoven, handspun, hand-dyed projects you want everyone to ooooh and ahhh about. Bring your own beverage (though Meg usually provides water and ice tea.)

Meg normally provides all cups, plates, napkins, utensils, serving utensils and ice. Anyone needing to put a hot dish in the oven can come a little early to do that if they need to.

Please note that we will begin the night with a brief bit of guild business, including voting on our slate of officers. The business meeting will also be held on Zoom and everyone is encouraged to take part.

See our members only pages, newsletter or Googlegroup for location and the Zoom link to the business meeting.

First Saturday (read more about this here)
Saturday, June 7th
Noon – 2:00 PM

YARN EXTRAVAGANZA and FIBER SMORGASBORD

Think of this as one big yarn potluck!

Come share your yarn, your fiber, and your experience and tips working with it. Come see, feel, examine all the kinds of fibers and yarn your fellow weavers and spinners (and dyers) work with. Bring your questions and your answers! And, remember, like our gigantic Show-and-Tell day, this is all self-directed. (And thus can be a bit noisy and can get a bit chaotic. Introduce yourself! We have name tags!)

Weavers: Please bring examples of different types of weaving yarns, weaving yarns of different kinds of fibers, different weights, different textures, etc. for your fellow weavers (new and experienced) to feel and examine. Bring your color and sample cards from manufacturers!

Spinners: Bring your sample spinning fibers, sample packs, any small samples of fleece (please no whole fleece)! Bring examples of different fibers spun as singles and plied yarn. Bring examples of different kinds of grist and plies.

We’d like to put the fibers together in logical groups for comparison.  MARK YOUR PROPERTY so you can collect it at the end of the day again.

TBD: We hope to start the hour off with a a short talk on what the numbers and names (8/4 versus 10/2, DK weight versus Fingering) mean for weavers versus knitters, if we can find a speaker.

In-person at the Northwest Recreation Center
