Membership Benefits

Some of the benefits of becoming a WSSA member are:

Programs

We explore all aspects of weaving, spinning and dyeing. Multi-shaft weaving, band and card weaving, tapestry weaving, split shed weaving, etc. Wheel maintenance, blending boards, spinning, plying, color theory, ergonomics. Wool, cotton, linen, mohair and silk. Eco-printing, fiber reactive dyeing, dying with marigolds and cochineal, indigo – there’s so much to learn.  Maybe we’ll even get to pet a sheep or llama or two.

Programs are posted monthly on our website, and you can get an overview of our 2025-2026 meetings here.

Study Groups

Study groups are small, member-led learning groups that meet regularly to explore a specific topic or technique and then share what they’ve learned with each other. Some guilds call them “interest groups”.

Our study groups come and go as interest rises and wanes – and especially as there are volunteers who step forward to lead a group. They are designed by members to be what they want them to be. Some have monthly programs and presentations, others may be more project-based. Study groups promote community, encourage members to stretch themselves, support the exchange of knowledge, and provide a space to explore details with others who are equally as curious.

Getting involved in a study group is one of the best ways for new members to get to know other guild members, and to learn new techniques, or just get a better understanding of the topic in general. Groups can be a source of inspiration and motivation as well. Anyone can join one and anyone can start one.

A summary of 2025-2026 study group meeting dates is on our website.
