“Dougall Paulson”
Sean Dougall and Andrew Paulson

Sean Dougall and Andrew Paulson together form a multi-disciplinary art and design studio, Dougall Paulson. Starting out in a renovated lightbulb factory in Los Angeles and now based in North Carolina, and using traditional LeClerc multi-shaft floor looms, their stunning woven designs incorporate silk, and a variety of metals – including black steel, bronze, brass and nickel alloys and sterling-silver-plated brass – encased in glass for bespoke sculptural art and furnishings that transform spaces and glow with light. No two projects are ever the same.

Featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, NYTimes Style Magazine, and WST Magazine, and now part of the Crave Collection, their woven pieces are in demand for high-end commercial, hospitality, and residential projects on five continents, including Chanel boutiques in Beijing and Paris, The Ritz-Carlton, and Raffles. Here they’ll talk a bit about how they grew and developed their design practice, the challenges of weaving with metal, and what inspires them to keep exploring and moving forward.

First Saturday
Saturday, January 3rd

“Show and Share Our Treasures and/or a Mistake Story”
Start the new year by creating space to share stories and laughter about mistakes we’ve made and what we learned from them.  And if you prefer to just listen & laugh along with us, that’s A-OK!

Meet-up Night
Thursday, January 22
7:00-9:00 PM
Austin Recreation Center, 1301 Shoal Creek Blvd, Austin, TX 78701

Originally developed as a time and place for the guild’s  spinners together wheels in a circle and spin, it has now transformed into a general “come as you are” night to chat, weave, spin, and craft. There is no special program, so bring a friend and come hang-out. You can work on a personal project or not. Knitting and crochet are welcome!

As a bonus, our guild’s Library is housed in this room at the ARC. The guild’s Librarian will be there to meet with you, and the Library is always open to members.

Don’t think you’ll have time to look through articles of books during meetings? Not to worry! Browse our online catalog which allows you to search for specific things, such as a technique, or an author. Guild members have borrowing privileges!
