Scharine Kirchoff brings her knowledge and skills in the Ryukyu Islands practice of Kasuri Ikat to Austin.
On Friday, we will learn how to measure, tie, and dye weft in indigo. Saturday we will sample different methods of weaving the kasuri motifs, plan a short length of fabric, and dye additional skeins. Sunday we will weave our planned piece.
The workshop will be at Big Medium, 916 Springdale Rd, Bldg 2, Austin. Cost for members is $350 for the three days. Material cost of $25. There is a maximum of 12 participants, so get your registration in early. The down payment of $75 secures your slot. Balance due by Oct. 1.
This is a great opportunity to learn about resist dyeing using indigo as well as the skill required to develop and control motifs in the weaving. Look forward to seeing you there.
